>> Anna Wintour Owns an iPad -The fashion industry is infamous for having more than its fair share of Luddites - but that doesn't seem to include Anna Wintour. She owns an iPad, professes to read fashion blogs, and has an opinion on how the latter has affected magazine content: "Like any evolution in the industry, they force you to become better at what you do. Vogue’s in-depth articles and beautiful fashion stories, along with coverage of the arts within a fashion context, is not something that exists in the same way on blogs. They force us to dig deeper for stories, but we’re not competitors; we serve different markets." [OC]

A lot of people have favorite models. But what is it about a particular woman that makes you always want to look at pictures of them or buy products that they endorse? Everyone has their own conscious or subconscious reasons. So let me tell you about my favorite model and we can go from there.
When I was in high school, I was really skinny. That may sound awesome to some people, but I grew up in the South, where the ideal female figure was curvy and buxom. Compared to the pretty girls at my school, I looked like a boy. For awhile, I ate protein bars and junk food and tried to fatten myself up in any way I could, without realizing how hard it was to completely change your basic body type. But the first time I saw a picture of Stella Tennant in Vogue (probably when she was the face of Chanel), something changed. Here was this woman with a slender, boyish figure and angular facial features who was not only beautiful but being photographed for one of the greatest fashion magazines in the world.
Stella Tennant isn’t my favorite model because I look like her. We bear a very slight passing resemblance, but no one will ever stop me in the street thinking I am her. For one thing, she’s about six inches taller than me. My eyes are brown; hers blue. But my affection for her comes from the fact that she’s like an extreme, much more beautiful version of myself. There’s no chance of me ever getting a makeover and looking like Bar Refaeli or Veruschka. But in a wonderful fantasy universe, it’s somewhat more plausible that I could be Stella Tennant someday – it would require a haircut and maybe a nose ring, but not plastic surgery. That’s fashion escapism at its best – I may not look like this woman, but I don’t look completely unlike her either.
Do you have a favorite model? If so, who is it and why?

Vogue’s creative director and fashion industry icon Grace Coddington is writing a book about her life, reports WWD. Former Men’s Vogue editor-in-chief Jay Fielding, who has collaborated with Coddington in the past, is her writing partner.
Coddington’s mainstream notoriety has skyrocketed since The September Issue, which means the project is sure to be a hit with fashion insiders and fashion admirers alike. The stylist says that the book will not only cover her life–including her years as a model and time spent at Calvin Klein and British Vogue–but also plenty of fashion history.
As Anna Wintour’s Vogue begins to look less and less like “Anna Wintour’s Vogue“–as we know it, at least–expect more senior staffers to reflect on their legendary careers, whether through books, articles, or museum retrospectives. As the brightest star, it’s no surprise Coddington is leading the pack.

>> The rest of the 1,500 general sale tickets to the Fashion's Night Out fashion show sold out yesterday within four hours - although Lincoln Center's ticket office says more may become available before the show, and interested parties should call to inquire. Otherwise, the show is also set to be livestreamed.
A few more details about the fashion show have popped up - Tabitha Simmons and Edward Enninful are handling styling duties, and it will be focused on seven trends: Global Traveler, Rocker Girl, Roaring Twenties, Clean Chic, Fifties Era, and Country Weekend. CBS has also starting posting sneak peeks of the filming for their Fashion's Night Out television special - in one, during a planning meeting for the fashion show, Virginia Smith says, "We wanted to get across this idea of fashion coming from the streets of New York, so every trend is given a geographical location." As she says this, a slide pops up portraying the feathers trend paired with the Bronx Zoo.
Speaking of feathers, Anna Wintour, addressing retail executives at another meeting, poses the question with a smile: "Do feathers sell? Is that why they're back two seasons later?"
That and more, in the video clips »
